A Honeymoon in Space

by George Griffith · audio summary, about 11 min

Lord Redgrave and his new bride, Zaidie, embark on a spectacular honeymoon voyage across the solar system in the Astronef, a vessel powered by anti-gravitational force. Along their journey, they encounter dead worlds, hostile Martian fleets, angelic Venusians, and the terrifying forces of Jupiter and Saturn.

Key ideas

• The progression of planetary evolution: worlds naturally age from fiery chaos to habitable environments and finally to cold, dead deserts.
• The moral corruption of advanced intellect: purely scientific and utilitarian progress can strip a species of empathy and emotion, as seen in the Martians.
• The power of music as a universal language: it allows different species across the solar system to communicate and establish peaceful relations when spoken words fail.
